I Don't Recognise a Charge From Pay Advantage on My Statement

For payers: how to identify which business charged you through Pay Advantage and what to do next.

Last updated About 2 hours ago

This article is for customers who have noticed a payment or charge from Pay Advantage on their bank or card statement.

Pay Advantage is an Australian payment provider that processes payments on behalf of businesses across Australia.

We facilitate payments made by credit or debit card, Direct Debit, PayID, PayTo and BPAY.

If you've noticed a charge associated with Pay Advantage on your statement, this generally means you've made a payment to, or had a payment collected by, a business that uses our services.

How Can I Identify the Business That Charged Me?

If you're unsure which business a payment relates to, there are a few things you can check.

1. Check your bank statement

Review the transaction description displayed on your bank or card statement.

Payments processed through Pay Advantage may include a payment reference or the name of the business collecting the funds.

The exact description can vary depending on the payment method and your financial institution.

2. Check your emails and SMS messages

Search your emails and text messages for any payment receipts, invoices or Direct Debit confirmations received around the date of the transaction.

These may help you identify the business associated with the payment.

3. Review any recurring payment arrangements

Consider whether you've recently signed up for a service or authorised recurring payments, such as:

  • Gym memberships or subscriptions

  • Payment plans or instalments

  • Childcare or school fees

  • Other services with regular billing arrangements

If you've authorised a business to collect recurring payments, the transaction may relate to one of these arrangements.

What Should I Do Once I've Identified the Business?

If you've identified the business responsible for the charge, we recommend contacting them directly.

The business will be able to assist with questions regarding:

  • What the payment was for

  • Why a particular amount was charged

  • Your existing payment arrangements

  • Refunds or payment cancellations

Please note: Pay Advantage processes payments on behalf of businesses but does not determine the amounts they charge or manage their individual customer agreements.

Any refund requests or disputes relating to goods or services should generally be directed to the business that collected the payment.

What If I Still Don't Recognise the Charge?

If you've checked your records and still can't identify the business, our Support team can help investigate the transaction.

You can contact us using the details below:

Email: support@payadvantage.com

Phone: 1300 641 310

To help us locate the payment, please provide the following information:

  • Transaction date: The date the payment appeared on your statement.

  • Transaction amount: The exact amount charged.

  • Transaction description: The description or reference shown on your bank statement.

  • Payment reference: Any receipt or transaction reference number available.

  • Card details: The last four digits of the card used, if the payment was made by card.

Providing these details will help us identify the transaction and the business associated with it.

Important: For your security, never send us your full card number, CVV, online banking password or bank login details.

What If I Believe the Payment Is Fraudulent?

If you believe a payment has been made without your knowledge or authorisation, we recommend contacting your bank or card provider immediately.

Your financial institution can investigate the transaction, advise you on the available dispute or recovery options, and help secure your account if necessary.

You can also contact our Support team with the transaction details so we can assist in identifying the business associated with the payment.
