Payments and Settlements

What Happens if a Settlement Fails or Is Delayed?

Why settlements can't be reprocessed individually and how failed settlements are retried.

Last updated About 2 hours ago

Pay Advantage transfers the funds you've collected from your customers into your nominated business bank account.

Occasionally, a settlement may be rejected by your bank. This can happen for several reasons, including:

  • A temporary payment stop or restriction on your bank account

  • Your bank account being closed or inactive

  • Incorrect or outdated bank account details

How Are Settlements Processed?

Pay Advantage processes settlements in bulk at scheduled times each business day.

As settlements are processed in batches across all Pay Advantage accounts, we're unable to manually resend an individual settlement once the daily settlement batch has been processed.

If your settlement has already been sent to your bank, the funds will generally arrive by the end of the business day, depending on your bank's processing times.

Settlement Failed Due to a Payment Stop

If your settlement has been rejected because of a payment stop or restriction on your bank account, you'll need to:

  1. Contact your bank and request that the payment stop or restriction be removed.

  2. Confirm with your bank that your account is able to receive incoming settlements.

  3. Contact Pay Advantage Support once the stop has been lifted so our team can arrange for your failed settlement to be reprocessed.

Important: Removing the payment stop with your bank does not automatically trigger the settlement to be resent. You'll need to notify our Support team once the issue has been resolved.

Once we've confirmed that the settlement has failed and the issue has been resolved, we can arrange for it to be included in the next available settlement run.

Settlement Failed Due to Incorrect or Closed Bank Account Details

If your settlement was rejected because your nominated bank account has been closed or the details are incorrect, you'll need to update your settlement account information.

Your new bank account details will need to be verified before we can resume settlements to that account.

When Will I Receive My Reprocessed Settlement?

Once the reason for the failed settlement has been resolved and our Support team has arranged for it to be reprocessed, the funds will be included in the next available settlement batch.

For example, if your settlement is confirmed as failed and our team arranges reprocessing on Monday, the funds will generally be sent during Tuesday morning's settlement run.

The time the funds become available in your bank account will depend on your bank's processing times.
