I'm Paying a Business — How Do I Stop, Cancel or Change My Direct Debit?
For payers: how to cancel, stop or update the payment details on a direct debit collected through Pay Advantage.

This article is for people paying a business through Pay Advantage. If you're a business using Pay Advantage, see Direct Debit Statuses and Edit a Direct Debit instead.
Pay Advantage is a payment provider that processes payments on behalf of Australian businesses.
Your Direct Debit agreement is with the business you're making payments to, rather than Pay Advantage. This means the business is generally your first point of contact if you need to cancel a payment arrangement or update your payment details.
How do I cancel or stop my Direct Debit?
If you'd like to cancel or stop future Direct Debit payments, you have two options.
Option 1: Contact the business (recommended)
The easiest way to cancel or suspend your Direct Debit is to contact the business you're paying.
They can manage your payment arrangement directly through their Pay Advantage account and cancel or suspend any upcoming payments.
Option 2: Contact your bank or card provider
If your payments are being deducted from your bank account, you can also contact your bank and request that the Direct Debit be cancelled.
Under Australian banking rules, your bank must act on your request to cancel a Direct Debit.
If your payments are being charged to a credit or debit card, you can contact your card provider to discuss your options for stopping recurring payments.
Important: Cancelling a Direct Debit only stops future payments from being collected. It does not cancel any outstanding amounts you may owe the business under your agreement. We recommend contacting the business directly to discuss any remaining payment obligations.
How do I change the bank account or card used for my Direct Debit?
If you'd like future payments to come from a different bank account or card, you'll need to request an update through the business you're paying.
Pay Advantage doesn't provide a separate customer login for managing payment details. However, businesses can send you a secure link to update your details.
To change your payment method:
Contact the business you're paying and ask them to send you a Change of Account link.
Check your email or SMS for the secure payment update link.
Open the link and follow the prompts to enter your new bank account or card details.
Submit your updated details to complete the process.
Once your new payment details have been successfully updated, future Direct Debit payments will be collected from your new account.
